Homework Extensions
Since we understand that sometimes life happens, assignments may be submitted up to 48 hours late with no grade penalty. However, the following policies apply to late submission:
- Requests must be submitted online using our Extension Request Form (below).
- You must acknowledge that you are receiving an extension by filling out the form and then submitting your assignment after the deadline.
- Extension requests must be made 24 hours before the deadline. Requests made less than 24 hours before the deadline must also include a valid reason why the extension request could not be requested earlier.
- Significant work must be submitted to Gradescope when submitting the form to show that you’re not starting the assignment after the deadline.
Note: By filling out the form, you may submit late (no permission is needed after submitting). However, we will not grant extensions past the new deadline, except in limited circumstances – any requests for longer extensions must be sent to the course ticketing email before the original deadline. If you submit late without filling out the extension request form, we may grade only the work submitted before the deadline.
In general, there will be no extensions beyond the 48-hour grace period. If extensions beyond the 48 hours grace period are needed (for example due to justified travel), please contact course staff (using the ticketing system) before the deadline to discuss why and if other accommodations are also needed.
