If this were an in-person class, we’d have some guests from industry visit the class and speak about internships in general and about how things are done in their companies. You’d have a chance to listen and ask questions.
To give you something like that experience, we have short videos of interviews with a number of representatives of companies or organizations that hire or have hired interns for our universities. Each video is between 12-18 minutes (when played at normal speed).
We asked them questions and to talk about topics based on your suggestions and ideas contributed by the students teaching the course.
Your activity and assignment this week are to watch at least 3 of these videos and write a report that addresses the questions listed below. Submit a reasonably formated PDF file containing your report to the Collab site for Week 8.
Write down the names of the industry representatives whose video interviews you watched.
What was something that surprised you that you heard in any of the interviews? (If nothing surprised, you tell us what you found most interesting or useful.)
Briefly describe two things you learned that you think you yourself should do to better prepare yourself to succeed in applying for or interviewing for an internship.
Give us any follow-up questions or topics that you’d like to us to present to the industry representatives and get their response. (We’ll share their answers with the class.)

If you have any problems, do not hesitate to contact the staff! Our goal is for you to learn about these, and not to struggle over problems that we can help you overcome quickly.
This is an individual assignment. Watch the videos and write up your report on your own, please.
